Giraffes, Hot-Air Balloons and Globes: Inside the Adventurous Nursery of Nick Carter’s Son, Odin Reign

If the name of his 8-week-old son Odin Reign isn’t enough indication that new dad Nick Carter wants his first child’s dreams to be “Larger Than Life,” the design of his nursery certainly is.

The Backstreet Boys member, 36, and wife of two years Lauren Kitt Carter shared photos of their baby boy’s nursery, taken by Julie Cate, exclusively with PEOPLE.

The look of Odin’s room was created with adventure in mind, featuring animals, a wallpaper with a hot-air-balloon print, a small world globe and modern lighting fixtures. Gray, white and yellow hues decorate the nursery, offering elegant pockets of color while still keeping the space soothing.

The room’s lead designer was Stephanie Avila of Rockabye Mommy, and features bedding and linens designed by Tori Swaim of New Arrivals, Inc.

The fun-loving yet sophisticated room also has an antique feel, thanks to unique lighting sconces and a mix of wood and metal elements throughout, paired with modern linens and furniture. Books placed strategically around the nursery will inspire Odin as he grows.

Dark letters adorn the wall above the littlest Carter’s crib, spelling out his name between whimsical light fixtures that serve as the focal point of the nursery’s industrial-influenced edge. The “Be Brave” crib skirt and gray triangle-print crib sheet from New Arrivals, Inc. add pops of color to the mostly neutral sleep area of the room.

The theme-loving new parents opted for a whitewashed dresser/changing-table combo to complete the space, decorated with an angular pattern and drawer handles that complement the arrow and herringbone accents worked into Odin’s changing pad, crib bedding and bassinet linens.

One nursery item not pictured? Recorded lullabies for Odin, courtesy of his proud papa.

“[Nick]’s going to record an album, a private album of all our favorite nursery songs,” Kitt Carter said in April. “So when he does have to travel and we’re not able to go with him, we can play it.”
